While your children will surely be drawn to the fjord beach for a swim, you can also explore the sights in the surrounding area. In Jægerspris you can visit the old castle and treat yourself to an ice cream from Poulsens Isbod, which has been selling ice cream since 1913. The mill at Jægerspris is still in operation and you can also buy fresh flour there in the summer. A little further on is the nearest town, Frederikssund, where you can shop and eat out. You can also visit the cosy town of Roskilde, with its Viking museum, cathedral and walk along the fjord.
